Warranty included on every vehicle
Every car, van and bike sold by Columbus Vehicle Specialists ships with a free 3-month inclusive warranty — extendable up to 24 months at point of sale.
Three months included as standard
Mechanical breakdown cover on the engine, gearbox and core electrics from day one — no admin fee, no opt-out. Underwritten by a UK FCA-regulated provider; claims go through their nationwide approved-garage network so you are never stuck waiting for us.
Upgrade to 12 or 24 months on the day
Bundle a 12-month extension into the purchase price for a fixed cost (no monthly direct debit). 24-month upgrades are available on vehicles under 6 years old and below 80,000 miles. Both tiers retain the same parts coverage as the inclusive plan.
What is covered
Engine, gearbox, transfer box, clutch, drivetrain, cooling system, fuel system (petrol and diesel), turbocharger, electrics, steering, brakes (mechanical components), suspension geometry, and factory-fitted air conditioning. Hybrid and EV components covered on equivalent vehicles.
What is excluded
Wear-and-tear items (tyres, wipers, pads, discs below the wear marker), modified components, race or track use, and damage caused by neglected servicing. Excluded items are listed in plain English in your warranty booklet — no small print, no "betterment" charges on standard claims.
How claims work
You call the warranty provider direct or take the vehicle to any VAT-registered UK garage; they raise the claim on your behalf. Authorisation is typically within 2 working hours. The provider settles the garage direct — you pay nothing on covered work beyond any excess agreed at point of sale.
Pre-existing fault check
Every vehicle is inspected to AA / RAC trade standards before we list it. Anything that needs attention is fixed before the photos are taken — so claims rarely come up. We also keep service-history records on file for 36 months in case the provider asks for evidence.
Common questions
Can I use my own garage for claims?
Yes — any VAT-registered garage in the UK can submit a claim to the warranty provider on your behalf. You are not tied to a network of approved garages, and labour-rate caps are set high enough that most independent garages don't need to top up.
Does the warranty cover bikes the same way?
Yes. Motorcycle cover uses the same parts schedule scaled to two-wheel components (engine, gearbox, electronics, fuel injection). Drive chain and consumables are exclusions, as they are on cars — wear items are owner-maintained.
Is there an excess?
The inclusive 3-month plan is excess-free on most claims. The 12- and 24-month upgrades offer either a zero-excess premium tier or a £50-excess standard tier — we let you pick on the day so the cost matches the cover you actually need.
What if a fault appears in the first 30 days?
Inside 30 days you are also protected by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — the short-term right to reject. If we can't fix the fault, you get a full refund. Outside 30 days but inside 6 months, you have the right to one repair attempt before the same rejection right kicks in.
Can I cancel the upgrade if I change my mind?
Yes — the 12- and 24-month upgrades carry a 14-day cooling-off period from the date you sign the warranty booklet. Cancel inside that window for a full refund of the upgrade premium (the inclusive 3 months stays in place).
